Believe in Scotland: Indy Campaign Internships

Believe in Scotland provides the momentum behind the independence movement.

Since our launch in 2019 we have grown significantly and now deliver or coordinate (through our network of 143 local and national affiliated Yes Groups) almost all of the non-political-party campaigning for independence.

We organise marches and rallies attended by leading politicians, activists and even major celebrities, distribute hundreds of thousands of leaflets, organise impactful; petitions and social media campaigns through our large and fast growing social media reach. We also partner with our local Yes Groups to organise targeted local campaign days and national days of action.

Leveling up

We are accelerating our campaigning activity and specifically want to reach young people through various social media channels and events and to help grow local independence groups and restart or strengthen stalled activity across Scotland.

Paid Indy Campaign Internships

To do this we are recruiting up to six part time indy campaign interns across 4 different roles in Scotland. The successful candidates will work alongside and support local grassroots groups, and also support and help drive our social media, digital engagement and content creation - with a renewed focus on engaging younger voters.

These roles are designed to support and strengthen the independence movement at both local and national level - helping communities organise, supporting activists and members more effectively, and expanding Believe in Scotland’s reach both in person and online.

The roles are as follows:

1) Campaign Coordinator Intern - Purpose: The role of a Believe in Scotland Campaign Coordinator is to support the resetting, rebuilding and reactivation of local Yes groups across Scotland.

2) Engagement Officer Intern - Purpose: To help turn attention into action by making sure supporters feel seen, heard and signposted to the right next step.

3) Short Form & Video Content Creator Intern - Purpose: To create platform-native short form video content that informs, inspires and grows engagement across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

4) Member Engagement Intern - Purpose: To improve the supporter and member journey so that people feel welcomed, valued and more likely to stay involved.

Successful applicants will take part in a paid internship programme with highly flexible hours that offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the independence campaign, build practical skills, gain hands-on experience in a live campaign environment, and strengthen their CV for future opportunities.

Ideal candidates will be highly motivated self starters who support Believe in Scotland’s key goal of independence. Experience of political/social/environmental campaigning, social media content and or video creation and an understanding of the issues facing young people and how they communicate would be advantageous.

Please apply now by emailing your CV and Covering note explaining why you would like to be considered for one of the intern roles to [email protected]. The closing date for this round of applications will be Thursday July 9th 2026.
