Energy Campaign - Independence National Day of Action

On Saturday 20th September, Believe in Scotland is asking every Yes group across Scotland to get out campaigning in their local area on the same day.

Let's be independence ambassadors and make sure we’re seen and heard in our communities, especially by those who are undecided.

Focus for the day: the cost of energy and the I‑Switch campaign

This National Day of Action will be the first big national push for our new I‑Switch campaign.

I‑Switch shows how the rising cost of energy in Scotland is tied to being locked into Westminster’s failing energy system and how switching to independence would give us the powers to lower prices, protect households and businesses, and build a fairer, greener energy future.

We’ll provide brand new I‑Switch leaflets and materials for groups to use on the day.

What can local groups do?

The main aim is to get out in your community and push the energy message but if your group also wants to do something alongside this, that’s great too. For example:

• Holding a street stall focused on energy and independence

• Organising an Indy leaflet drive or door drop

• Doing a litter pick as a group, wearing Yes badges or T‑shirts

• Flags on bridges, creative visuals or any activity that gets your group out and seen

The key is to be visible, positive and approachable and to focus on connecting with people outside the core Yes movement. Let’s just get out there.

Online and offline together

Believe in Scotland will run co‑ordinated online campaign initiatives to amplify the message across social media on the day and beyond as part of this energy campaign. Details will follow closer to the time.

The National Day of Action on 20th September is a chance to show that the independence movement is active, outward‑looking and focused on real issues that matter to everyone in Scotland.
